Dexian’s 2025 Study: Tech Alone Won’t Future-Proof Workplaces

Dexian, a leader in talent and tech solutions, has released its 2025 Work Futures Study, highlighting an urgent challenge for employers: technology is advancing faster than the workforce is ready to adapt.

The study, based on responses from 3,000 U.S. workers and decision-makers, shows that while AI, automation, 5G, and cloud platforms are commanding attention (with 84% of IT leaders planning AI investments in 2025), only 38% feel very prepared to implement these technologies effectively. The result? A widening gap between ambition and execution.

Trends from the Work Futures Study

1. Technology Without Talent Falls Short
While AI investment surges, workforce preparedness lags. Only 29% of workers feel ready for future tech demands. Even among IT professionals, just 36% rate their skills as highly advanced.

2. Upskilling Is Uneven and Underutilized

  • 69% of IT pros have access to upskilling—yet most still don’t feel fully equipped.

  • Only 37% of the general workforce is offered such programs, despite high interest.

3. Skills Over Degrees
Hiring models are evolving. About 50% of IT decision-makers now prioritize potential and skill over formal credentials, and many are relaxing degree requirements to cast a wider net.

4. Flexibility Is a Retention Driver
Nearly half of IT leaders plan to expand remote work in 2025. Flexibility, along with professional growth and competitive pay, tops the list of employee retention factors.

5. DEI Still Matters to Talent
Despite economic and political shifts, over 80% of employees say DEI remains critical to team dynamics and hiring. Cutting back on these programs risks alienating talent.

6. Soft Skills Are Gaining Ground
Organizations are waking up to the importance of adaptability, creativity, and emotional intelligence. A massive 92% of decision-makers recognize these traits as essential in a future-ready workforce.

Dexian’s View: Technology and Humanity Must Evolve Together

AI raises the bar it doesn’t lower it,” said CEO Maruf Ahmed. “Organizations need to balance investment in platforms with investment in people if they want long-term success.”

Chief Marketing Officer Kip Havel added, “We align business needs with what workers want: growth, purpose, and flexibility. The future isn’t tech vs. talent it’s tech plus talent.

Dexian’s findings send a clear message: Technology alone won’t future-proof your business. The companies that thrive will be the ones that invest equally in tools and talent building inclusive, resilient workplaces that adapt just as fast as the innovations reshaping them.
