Virtual informational sessions on Oct. 26 aim to help teens jumpstart careers in tech
Garmin is excited to introduce Fast Track to Tech, an innovative on-the-job training program designed specifically for high school seniors. The initiative provides part-time professional opportunities for students interested in jumpstarting a career in technology, even if college isn’t their immediate path.
Entering its third year, Fast Track to Tech allows high school seniors to work 15-20 hours per week at Garmin’s U.S. headquarters based in Olathe, Kansas with the potential for full-time employment upon graduation. To date, Garmin has hired 50 students into the three roles the training program has to offer:
- Material Handler — Involves shipping and receiving in a warehouse setting
- Product Support Specialist — Provides technical customer support for Garmin product users
- Electronics Assembler — Involves the assembly of aviation and auto OEM products in a manufacturing setting
“We are thrilled to offer part-time roles to high school seniors through our Fast Track to Tech program for a third year. This unique opportunity offers seniors who may be more interested in joining the workforce after graduation with first-hand training and the potential for full-time employment.” –Laurie Minard, Garmin Vice President of Human Resources

Following high school graduation and successful tenure in the Fast Track to Tech program, participants may be eligible for full-time employment at Garmin, including access to the company’s comprehensive benefits package, tuition reimbursement for those wishing to pursue a college degree and more.
