Remote Work Opportunities Surge in Frontline Sectors, According to New Report

Despite the plateauing of remote job openings in many industries, frontline sectors are seeing an unexpected surge in remote-eligible positions. New data from Resume Now® and Talroo reveals that remote work opportunities in essential jobs have grown by 9% over the past year, thanks to the rapid adoption of digital tools and automation. The Frontline Remote Work Trends 2025 report sheds light on the growth of remote roles in industries traditionally dominated by on-site work, showcasing a shift in how frontline sectors are adapting to the new work environment.

    • Q1 2025 saw remote job postings rise to 4.4%, up from 4.2% in Q4 2024 and 4.1% YoY.

    • The majority of remote job postings are full-time, with over 84% of postings being full-time, while part-time remote roles remain limited due to employer preference for stable staffing.

The Role of Digital Tools and Automation

As digital tools become more integrated into frontline industries, remote work opportunities are expanding in fields that were once reliant solely on in-person work. Thad Price, CEO of Talroo, emphasized the growing importance of digital upskilling to enable remote and hybrid work in these traditionally on-site sectors. “Companies that invest in digital upskilling will not only boost productivity and employee satisfaction but also open new doors for remote and hybrid work in frontline sectors,” Price said.

The rise in remote work opportunities within frontline sectors marks a significant shift in how industries traditionally reliant on in-person labor are adapting to the digital age. With remote-eligible roles in sectors like healthcare, sales, and retail continuing to grow, businesses that embrace digital transformation and upskilling will be well-positioned to thrive in an increasingly flexible work environment.
