Employee well-being is a core pillar of Hitachi Digital’s culture. By investing in programs that support mental, physical, and professional growth, the company aims to ensure employees achieve a healthy personal and professional life. This includes wellness initiatives, flexible work arrangements, mental health support, and training managers to ensure these services reach their team members. Here are a few of the initiatives currently in place:
Live events: A variety of live and recorded events, customized for the company, are provided to employees on topics such as Mindfulness & Meditation, Financial Wellbeing, Healthy Eating, Getting Fit, and more.
Employee Assistance Program: Available in each region, EAPs offer our employees a comprehensive and flexible assistance program that supports everyday life. From personalized paths to wellbeing, confidential 24/7 support from mental health services to tools for managing everyday life stressors, as well as other services like financial literacy.
Wellness Benefit: The company provides employees in some regions with an annual “allowance” that they can use towards a variety of wellness activities of their choice, including gym membership, meditation classes or apps, exercise equipment, and more
Mental Health First Aiders: The company invests in certifying employees as Mental Health First Aiders. These employees are trained to listen, recognize, and respond to mental health challenges, and provide a compassionate ear and support when needed. Whether it’s a challenging day or a more serious concern, they offer reassurance and assistance.
Promotion of Health and Wellness Events: Communication and online intranet content raises employee awareness of a variety of topics from healthy eating, physical health, sleep, financial wellbeing as well as Women’s Health and Men’s Health.
Internally Created Microbreaks: “Reboot” is the company’s internally created series of guided microbreaks that aim to ease the body and reboot the brain, available to all employees on our internal intranet. At 5 minutes or less, each video guides employees to ease their mind, boost mood, increase motivation, and restore the brain to peak performance.
Flexible Work: Our flexible-work policy, available in some regions, empowers employees to decide their optimal work environment. Employees are free to determine where they can excel, whether in the office or at home, aligning with our hybrid working expectations, which have been positively received by our staff. This philosophy promotes mutual benefit for both the company and its employees.
People Manager Training: Included in the manager curriculum are several courses that prepare managers to support employee well-being. The course, Caring for Employee Mental Health enables managers to care for their own mental health and that of their team members by integrating well-being into daily interactions, recognizing early indicators of mental health challenges, engaging employees on mental health concerns, and fostering psychological safety across the team. In the course Fostering Change Resilience, managers learn to build personal capacity for resilience, and coach their team members to develop resilience so they can adapt and thrive in a changing landscape.
