Ualett, the bilingual fintech platform built for U.S. gig economy workers, is celebrating its 7th anniversary with two major expansion moves: opening a bilingual customer experience hub in Bogotá through a collaboration with Foundever® and launching a hiring campaign in the Dominican Republic.
It’s a milestone moment for the Dominican-founded startup, which began in 2018 as a community-driven alternative to traditional finance for underbanked workers. Seven years later, Ualett is not just profitable—it’s processing nearly 19,000 cash advances a month, cementing its role as one of the fastest-growing financial lifelines for gig workers across the country.
From Grassroots to National Fintech
Founded by a Dominican-led team, Ualett has always positioned itself as the financial platform of the excluded. Unlike traditional lenders, it bypasses credit scores and rigid underwriting, offering flexible cash advances designed for the unpredictable income patterns of gig workers.
The model is clearly resonating. In 2024, Ualett was processing about 12,000 cash advances per month. Just a year later, that figure has surged nearly 60% to 19,000 monthly advances—proof of accelerating adoption and customer trust.
“Seven years ago, Ualett began with a mission to build financial tools for workers excluded by the system,” said Ricky Michel Presbot, CEO and co-founder. “This next chapter reflects both how far we’ve come and how much further we plan to go while staying true to our roots in trust, transparency, and community-led impact.”
Bogotá Hub: Bilingual CX at Scale
The new operational hub in Colombia is powered by Foundever, a global leader in customer experience delivery. The move allows Ualett to leverage Colombia’s bilingual, tech-savvy workforce while scaling high-touch service to meet surging U.S. demand.
CX outsourcing is nothing new in fintech, but Ualett’s choice of Bogotá reflects both strategic and cultural alignment. Foundever brings deep expertise in bilingual recruiting and retention, ensuring Ualett’s customer base—largely Spanish- and English-speaking gig workers—receives empathetic, human-centered support.
Dominican Republic: Hiring for Growth
At the same time, Ualett is investing back in its roots. The company is expanding operations in the Dominican Republic, adding more than 30 new roles across operations, customer experience, and support.
“This isn’t just growth, it’s growth with purpose,” said Jay Millard, Chief Revenue Officer. “Expanding in Colombia and the D.R. allows us to serve customers better while deepening ties with the communities that helped build Ualett from the ground up.”
Why It Matters
The timing of Ualett’s expansion underscores the growing importance of gig-focused fintech. Platforms like Uber, DoorDash, and Instacart have reshaped the U.S. labor market, but their workers often fall outside traditional financial systems. Ualett fills that gap with capital access, flexible repayment, and now—through its expansions—scaled bilingual support.
With 19,000 advances a month and a profitable growth trajectory, Ualett’s approach looks increasingly relevant at a time when mainstream banks are struggling to serve the gig workforce effectively. By planting deeper operational roots in Latin America, Ualett is betting on community, culture, and CX as the engines of its next phase.
