ALKU Expands With New Dayforce, Pharma Automation, and Engineering Divisions

ALKU is going big under new leadership. The specialty staffing firm announced three major expansions: a Dayforce-focused division, a pharmaceutical automation & process controls (APC) division, and a new engineering brand targeting industries from energy to EVs. The move marks the first strategic play by new CEO & President Andrew Bull—and it signals a company intent on scaling aggressively into high-demand niches.

Why It Matters

ALKU isn’t just chasing growth—it’s chasing specialization. In staffing, deep domain knowledge increasingly trumps generalist recruiting. By doubling down on Dayforce (a fast-growing cloud HCM platform), pharma manufacturing technologies, and engineering-heavy industries, ALKU is angling to be the go-to firm for clients who need hard-to-find technical talent in emerging areas.

The expansion comes as ALKU climbs the ranks of the U.S. staffing industry. The company landed 41st in Staffing Industry Analysts’ latest list of top U.S. staffing firms, up from 50th last year—a jump that reflects both market momentum and Bull’s mandate for innovation.

Breaking Down the New Divisions

  • Dayforce Division: Expands ALKU’s ERP staffing footprint into workforce management, payroll, and HCM integrations. With Dayforce adoption rising, ALKU aims to become a trusted partner for implementations and post-go-live support.

  • Pharma APC Division: Targets the pharmaceutical sector’s push toward automation and compliance. The focus includes PLC/SCADA, MES, validation, and advanced manufacturing—areas where regulatory pressure and digital transformation collide.

  • Engineering Brand: A broader engineering play covering energy, telecom, utilities, EVs, data centers, and industrial manufacturing. Dedicated project managers will oversee each vertical, a nod to ALKU’s “multiply by division” model of growth.

Big Picture

Staffing firms are under pressure to do more than fill roles—they need to deliver specialized talent that maps directly to transformation projects. Competitors like Kforce and Randstad have also been building niche practices, but ALKU’s aggressive push into three technical areas at once is unusually bold.

Bull summed up the strategy: “By adapting our structure and moving quickly, ALKU can anticipate market demands and provide talent in critical areas like cybersecurity, ERP systems, clinical trials, and regulatory affairs.”

Translation: ALKU isn’t trying to be everything to everyone. It’s trying to be indispensable in the most complex corners of the talent market.
