As candidates increasingly use AI to apply for jobs at scale, recruiters are facing a new problem: too many applications and too little signal. HeyMilo AI wants to become the screening layer that separates serious candidates from the noise.
The startup announced a $6 million funding round led by Category Ventures, with participation from Canaan Partners, Alumni Ventures, and ERA.
HeyMilo says its platform is already being used by major staffing firms, RPOs, and enterprises including Randstad, WilsonHCG, and Neo Financial. The company claims it has screened more than one million candidates across staffing, BPO, and high-volume corporate hiring programs.
Recruiting Meets the AI Era
HeyMilo’s pitch is straightforward: candidates now have AI copilots, resume generators, and interview prep tools, while many employers still rely on resume reviews and phone screens.
Instead of waiting for recruiters to manually evaluate applicants, HeyMilo starts screening the moment someone applies. Candidates can be assessed through voice, video, phone, SMS, and resume-based agents, while recruiters receive rubric-scored evaluations, transcripts, and structured evidence inside their existing applicant tracking systems.
“High-volume hiring only works if you can vet everyone fairly and send recruiters to the people who deserve their time,”
said Sabashan Ragavan.
New AI Assessment Tools
Alongside the funding, HeyMilo launched three new agent types designed to tackle emerging hiring challenges.
AI Scenario Assessment
Evaluates how candidates use AI in realistic work scenarios, scoring their ability to plan tasks, write prompts, and judge AI-generated output.
Candidate Recommendations
Searches existing ATS databases and resurfaces previously screened applicants, returning ranked shortlists without manual sourcing.
AI Notetaker
Captures structured notes during recruiter-led interviews to create consistent, reviewable candidate records.
Why It Matters
HeyMilo is entering a crowded AI recruiting market that includes vendors building interview bots, sourcing agents, and screening copilots. The company’s differentiation appears to be its focus on high-volume hiring workflows, where recruiters often need to evaluate thousands of applicants quickly while maintaining consistency and compliance.
The timing is notable. Enterprises are increasingly worried about AI-generated applications, candidate fraud, and verification challenges as generative AI tools become mainstream. That has created demand for more structured assessments and evidence-based screening rather than relying solely on resumes and traditional interviews.
Investors are clearly betting that this shift is still in its early innings.
“AI is fundamentally changing the way companies need to vet applicants for roles and HeyMilo has quickly emerged as a leader in that transformation,”
said Villi Iltchev.
The Bigger Picture
Whether recruiters ultimately embrace fully agentic hiring remains an open question. But one trend is becoming harder to ignore: as candidates automate more of the application process, employers are increasingly looking for AI-powered ways to evaluate candidates at the same scale.
In that sense, HeyMilo isn’t just selling a recruiting tool—it’s betting that the future of hiring will be AI versus AI, with humans making the final call.
