The global energy technology company has appointed Roque Martin as Senior Vice President of Connected Platforms and Eugene Mazo as Senior Vice President of Grid Intelligence, reinforcing its strategy to combine connected utility infrastructure with AI-powered analytics for next-generation energy networks.

The modernization of electric and gas utilities is entering a new phase as artificial intelligence, distributed energy resources, electric vehicles, and hyperscale data centers place unprecedented demands on grid infrastructure. Against this backdrop, Landis+Gyr Group AG has announced two senior executive appointments and a revised operating model designed to accelerate innovation across connected utility platforms and intelligent grid software.

The company has named Roque Martin as Senior Vice President of Connected Platforms and Eugene Mazo as Senior Vice President of Grid Intelligence. The appointments create two complementary business units that reflect how utilities are increasingly investing in both digital infrastructure and AI-driven operational intelligence.

Connected Platforms will oversee the intelligent devices, communications technologies, and networking services that support utility operations, while Grid Intelligence will focus on software, analytics, artificial intelligence, and applications that convert operational data into actionable insights.

Landis+Gyr’s organizational changes come as utilities confront one of the most significant shifts in electricity demand in decades.

Following years of relatively stable consumption, U.S. electricity demand is projected to rise steadily through the next decade. Much of that growth is being driven by AI infrastructure, cloud computing, electric vehicles, industrial electrification, and renewable energy integration.

His organization will focus on creating secure, scalable communications infrastructure capable of supporting both today’s smart grid operations and future digital services.

Meanwhile, Eugene Mazo will lead the newly established Grid Intelligence organization, overseeing software platforms that apply artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, and operational intelligence across utility networks.

Mazo joins from Acuity Brands, where he led the Atrius IoT platform, following his role as founder and CEO of DGLogik, an intelligent building software company later acquired by Acuity Brands.

His experience aligns with the utility industry’s growing emphasis on AI-driven asset management, predictive maintenance, outage forecasting, and operational optimization.

“The opportunity is not simply to connect more assets, but to help utilities understand what is happening across their networks and act on that information with greater speed and confidence,” Mazo said.

The appointments also support Landis+Gyr’s broader executive expansion.

Over the past year, the company has strengthened leadership across corporate strategy, marketing, and human resources through the appointments of Sheila Dehdashti as Chief People Officer, Lisa Magnuson as Chief Marketing Officer, and Carter Shoop as Chief Strategy Officer.

The expanded executive team reflects the company’s long-term focus on intelligent energy infrastructure, digital transformation, and organizational growth.
