Fullglass Education is targeting that problem through a new technology partnership with OpenStax.
Under the OpenStax Technology Partner Program, instructors using OpenStax OER can now deliver those materials through the Fullglass platform, turning existing open textbooks into interactive digital courses without abandoning the affordability and open-access principles behind them.
The integration allows faculty to add quizzes, flashcards, discussion boards, assignments and other learning activities to OpenStax content.
That distinction matters because an open textbook and digital courseware are not the same thing.
A textbook primarily delivers information. Courseware can combine that information with assessment, practice, feedback and interaction. For instructors, the latter can also create a more structured digital workflow inside an institution’s existing learning-management system.
