As enterprises prepare for a security landscape shaped by artificial intelligence, increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks and the eventual threat posed by quantum computing, Symmatrics is adding a veteran technology sales executive to lead its next growth phase. The quantum-security company has appointed Jim Garrity as Senior Vice President of Growth, giving him responsibility for sales expansion, strategic partnerships and government and commercial market development.
Symmatrics is betting that the next generation of digital security will require more than incremental improvements to existing authentication and encryption systems. The company has appointed technology-industry veteran Jim Garrity as Senior Vice President of Growth as it seeks to commercialize what it describes as a quantum-secure approach to protecting digital data and authentication.
Garrity brings more than three decades of experience across software, SaaS, cybersecurity, distribution and technology partnerships. At Symmatrics, he will focus on building the company’s sales organization, expanding channel relationships and developing a go-to-market infrastructure aimed at both government agencies and commercial enterprises.
The appointment comes as organizations increasingly confront a dual security challenge: defending against today’s cyber threats while preparing for computing capabilities that could eventually undermine some widely deployed cryptographic techniques.
Symmatrics describes its technology as a quantum-secure data protection platform based on a One-Time Pad Symmetric Key architecture. The company says the architecture is designed to provide secure communications and authentication at internet scale.
The distinction matters because quantum security is not simply another cybersecurity product category. Quantum computers capable of breaking widely used public-key cryptography do not yet operate at the scale required for that threat, but organizations are already assessing how to protect long-lived sensitive information against future attacks.
This has accelerated interest in post-quantum cryptography (PQC), quantum-resistant algorithms and complementary approaches to digital identity and key management. Organizations including the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) have been working to standardize cryptographic algorithms designed to withstand quantum attacks.

Companies such as IBM, Microsoft, Cloudflare and Thales are among the major technology players investing in post-quantum security and cryptographic modernization, while specialist vendors are developing quantum-resistant encryption and key-management technologies.
The practical question for enterprise security teams is therefore not simply whether a technology is described as “quantum secure.” It is whether it can integrate with existing identity, application, network and data-security infrastructure without introducing unacceptable operational complexity.
That is where Garrity’s enterprise go-to-market background could become important.
His career includes senior roles at MoreDirect, VMware, Citrix and Insight. At MoreDirect, he helped scale the business from its early stage to more than $125 million in annual revenue before its acquisition by Connection, and subsequently helped grow the business to more than $600 million. At VMware, he managed an Americas OEM business with approximately $800 million in annual go-to-market activity involving companies including Dell, EMC, Cisco and IBM.
He later led worldwide sales enablement at Citrix and managed strategic partner relationships involving Broadcom, Nutanix and Red Hat at Insight.
For Symmatrics, the experience is relevant because emerging cybersecurity technologies often face a commercialization challenge that is separate from the technical one. Security teams must justify new architectures to CIOs, CISOs, procurement organizations and compliance stakeholders, while vendors need partnerships capable of integrating the technology into existing enterprise environments.
Garrity will also represent Symmatrics at industry events and work on partnerships across government and commercial markets. That government focus is notable because federal agencies are among the organizations most actively assessing cryptographic modernization and long-term protection of sensitive information.
Symmatrics CEO Walter Raquet said Garrity’s mandate will include helping organizations adopt what the company calls a new standard of digital trust for the AI and quantum era.
The AI connection is increasingly relevant to cybersecurity. AI can improve threat detection and automate security operations, but it also enables faster discovery of vulnerabilities, more sophisticated social engineering and potentially more scalable cyberattacks. As organizations deploy AI agents and autonomous software systems, authentication and machine-to-machine trust become increasingly important.
The challenge for Symmatrics will be demonstrating that its architecture can move from a differentiated security proposition to a broadly deployable enterprise technology. Integration, interoperability, performance, regulatory acceptance and independent validation will matter as much as the underlying cryptographic claims.
Garrity argues that Symmatrics occupies a distinct position at the intersection of digital trust and quantum security. His immediate task will be turning that technical positioning into a repeatable commercial model.
For enterprise security leaders, the broader development is another signal that the post-quantum security conversation is moving beyond research labs and standards bodies. Vendors are now competing to determine how organizations will actually implement quantum-resistant security across applications, identities, communications and data.
