Unily Launches AI Content Studio for Employee Communications

Unily has launched Content Studio, an AI-powered enterprise content creation tool designed to turn approved workplace knowledge into podcasts, videos, infographics and other formats without specialist production resources. The product is aimed at internal communications and knowledge teams that need to adapt information for different employee audiences while maintaining governance and source control.

Enterprise communications teams face a familiar trade-off: employees increasingly expect information in different formats, but producing podcasts, videos, infographics and written communications separately can require additional people, time and production budgets.

Unily is attempting to address that gap with Content Studio by Unily, an AI-powered product that converts trusted organisational knowledge into multiple content formats.

The company says the product can transform existing information into podcasts, explainer videos, infographics and other formats without requiring a separate production workflow for each asset. Rather than positioning AI as a general-purpose content generator, Unily is building the tool around source selection, enterprise governance and human review.

That distinction matters for HR and internal communications teams. Workplace content can include policies, operational guidance, benefits information, leadership communications and other material where inaccuracies can create confusion or compliance risks.

Content Studio allows users to identify which sources should inform an output, then specify the intended audience, tone, length, emphasis and exclusions using natural-language instructions. Unily says sources can include its own platform as well as Microsoft 365 and SharePoint integrations.

The workflow is designed to keep the original knowledge base at the centre of content creation. Teams can upload or connect approved information, generate different formats and review the resulting content before distribution.

Unily also says outputs include standards and citations intended to help teams verify generated information. When underlying source information changes, teams can update content derived from those sources rather than recreating individual assets from scratch.

That source-grounded approach reflects a broader concern with enterprise generative AI: producing content quickly is relatively easy, but ensuring that the content remains accurate, traceable and consistent with organisational policy is harder.

Microsoft has increasingly incorporated AI into its workplace ecosystem through Microsoft 365 Copilot, while SharePoint is being positioned as an important source of organisational knowledge for AI-assisted work. Microsoft’s approach highlights the importance of connecting AI experiences to business data and permissions rather than treating enterprise content as an isolated generation problem.

Unily’s product targets a related problem from the employee-experience side: how to take trusted information and make it easier for employees to consume.

The potential use cases span internal communications, HR knowledge management, employee onboarding, change communications and learning. A single policy update, for example, could potentially become a written announcement, a short explainer video and an audio briefing without separate production processes.

For distributed workforces, format can also affect accessibility and engagement. Employees may not have the time or inclination to read a lengthy internal announcement, while an audio or visual version may fit more naturally into their working day.

The company cites early customer examples to illustrate the potential time savings. Unily says Velcro Companies reduced infographic production from approximately 60 minutes to three minutes, while Arc’teryx converted a month of internal communications into a podcast that it says saved 84 minutes per employee per month. These are customer-reported results and should not be treated as independently verified benchmarks.

The more significant development, however, may be the integration between content creation and employee experience platforms.

Content Studio can operate independently of Unily’s employee experience platform, according to the company. When connected to Unily, however, the workflow can extend from governed knowledge sourcing through content production, targeted employee delivery and impact measurement.

That creates a broader HR technology proposition. Instead of viewing content generation as a standalone AI productivity tool, organisations can connect the creation process to the systems through which employees receive and interact with workplace information.

This is particularly relevant as HR teams increasingly use AI to personalise employee communications. Gartner has identified AI agents and generative AI as significant areas of development in HR technology, while also emphasising the importance of governance as autonomous systems become more deeply integrated into HR workflows.

For internal communications teams, governance may be as important as speed. AI-generated content can introduce inaccuracies, unsupported claims or inconsistent messaging if the underlying sources are not controlled. Restricting generation to approved information and preserving human review can reduce some of those risks, although it does not eliminate the need for editorial oversight.

There is also a competitive question. Enterprise platforms from Microsoft, Google and Salesforce already provide AI-assisted capabilities for creating, summarising and distributing workplace content. Specialist employee-experience vendors such as Unily are competing partly through deeper integration with internal knowledge, communications and employee engagement workflows.

Content Studio therefore represents a move toward AI-powered employee communications infrastructure, rather than simply another generative writing tool.

The underlying premise is straightforward: organisations already possess large amounts of approved information, but that information is often trapped in documents, intranets, knowledge bases and collaboration systems. AI can make it easier to repurpose that knowledge, provided employees can trust where the output came from and organisations can control how it is generated.

For HR and communications leaders, the value proposition will ultimately depend on whether those controls can coexist with meaningful time savings. Unily’s launch suggests enterprise content creation is moving in that direction, with source governance and content reuse becoming central parts of the workflow.

Market Landscape

Enterprise employee-experience technology is increasingly converging with generative AI, knowledge management and internal communications. The competitive landscape includes broad workplace ecosystems such as Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace alongside specialist employee-experience and intranet platforms.

The emerging distinction is not simply whether a platform can generate content. It is whether AI can generate source-grounded, governed and reusable workplace communications while preserving organisational standards.

That is particularly relevant for HR, internal communications and knowledge teams managing policies, benefits information, leadership messages and organisational change.

Unily’s approach combines content transformation with source selection, editorial controls, citations and human review. Connected to its employee experience platform, the workflow can also extend into targeted distribution and engagement measurement.

As AI-generated content becomes easier to produce, these governance and traceability capabilities could become increasingly important differentiators for enterprise HR technology.
