Asure Opens AsureCentral HR Platform to Resellers

Asure Software has opened its AsureCentral platform to its reseller network, extending a unified environment for payroll, HR, recruiting, time and attendance, benefits and AI to a much larger employer base. The move is designed to reduce the friction created by separate applications and give resellers a single platform for managing users, access and HR technology across their clients.

Payroll providers are increasingly competing on how many parts of the employee lifecycle they can bring into one technology environment. Asure Software is taking that approach further by opening AsureCentral to its reseller network, extending the platform beyond the company’s direct employer customers.

Asure launched AsureCentral for resellers at its annual reseller training event and has already moved its first resellers onto the platform. The company describes the environment as the central layer connecting its payroll, tax, HR, recruiting, time and attendance, benefits and Luna AI capabilities.

Previously, AsureCentral was available only to Asure’s approximately 30,000 direct-employer customers, representing more than 300,000 employees. Its reseller network serves more than 85,000 employers and more than 1.5 million employees, according to the company.

Opening the platform to those partners therefore changes the potential reach of AsureCentral considerably.

The technology is built around more than single sign-on. Resellers can provision and manage users across the Asure products their clients use, while role-based access and multifactor authentication are designed to protect payroll and HR information.

The platform also provides different experiences based on an individual’s role. Employees can manage their pay and HR records, managers can handle workflows such as time-off and timecard approvals, and administrators can access information spanning payroll, HR, time and recruiting.

For resellers, Asure is also offering white-label capabilities, allowing the platform header to display the reseller’s own logo.

That matters because payroll resellers often manage technology relationships on behalf of multiple employers. When individual products require separate logins and administrative processes, adding adjacent HR applications can create additional implementation and support work.

Asure’s strategy is to make its broader product portfolio available through the same environment that already supports payroll.

The company says this could make it easier for resellers to introduce recruiting, time and attendance and benefits capabilities to clients that previously used only payroll. It also gives resellers using multiple technology providers a potential reason to consolidate more of their client relationships around Asure.

The strategy mirrors a broader trend across HCM software. Vendors increasingly want payroll, workforce management, recruiting, benefits administration, employee experience and analytics to operate as interconnected components rather than isolated applications.

Large platforms such as Workday, UKG, ADP and Dayforce have built broad HCM suites around this model, while smaller providers and payroll technology companies are increasingly expanding into adjacent HR functions.

The competitive rationale is straightforward: payroll is often one of the most deeply embedded systems in an employer’s HR technology stack. Once a provider has access to payroll data and processes, it can potentially use that relationship to introduce additional workforce applications.

AsureCentral provides another layer to that strategy by putting the reseller, rather than only the employer, at the centre of the platform experience.

The addition of Luna AI adds a further dimension. Asure says its AI assistant is embedded directly into AsureCentral and can help employees answer pay and HR questions and complete tasks within their workflows. Managers and administrators can also see items requiring attention, including exceptions and approvals.

That moves Luna beyond a standalone chatbot concept. The intended model is an AI layer connected to payroll and HR workflows, where employees can ask questions and users can act on tasks within the same environment.

The approach reflects the wider shift toward AI embedded directly into enterprise applications. Gartner has identified agentic AI as a significant development in HR technology, with AI agents increasingly expected to perform multistep tasks rather than simply provide information.

For payroll and HR systems, however, the integration also creates governance requirements. Payroll data is highly sensitive, and AI systems operating against employee records need appropriate identity controls, permissions, auditability and boundaries around the actions they can take.

AsureCentral’s role-based access and multifactor authentication therefore become relevant beyond basic platform administration. They provide the access layer through which users interact with payroll and HR data and, potentially, AI-powered workflows.

The reseller expansion also gives Asure a route to scale its broader HR technology portfolio without relying exclusively on direct sales to individual employers.

The company’s reseller network is substantially larger than its direct customer base by employer count, according to Asure. Moving those partners onto a common platform could therefore increase the exposure of Asure’s recruiting, time and attendance, benefits and AI products to employers already using its payroll infrastructure.

The commercial outcome will depend on how quickly resellers adopt the platform and whether clients choose to consolidate additional HR functions around it. But the product strategy is clear: make payroll the entry point to a broader workforce technology environment and make the reseller relationship part of that platform.

For HR technology buyers, the development highlights a continuing consolidation trend. Rather than managing separate systems for payroll, recruiting, time, benefits and employee support, employers increasingly have the option of purchasing integrated suites.

AsureCentral is Asure’s latest attempt to make that model work across both direct employers and its channel ecosystem.

Market Landscape

The HCM market is increasingly organised around integrated suites that connect payroll with workforce management, recruiting, benefits, employee experience and analytics. Vendors compete not only on individual applications but also on the ability to reduce integration, administration and login complexity.

Asure’s reseller strategy adds a channel dimension to that consolidation. Its partners can manage multiple employer relationships through one environment, while employers receive role-specific access to the Asure applications they use.

The addition of Luna AI also places the platform within the broader movement toward AI embedded in enterprise HR workflows. The competitive challenge will be balancing convenience with the security and governance requirements associated with payroll and employee data.

For resellers, the platform could make cross-selling adjacent HR applications easier. For Asure, it creates a larger distribution channel for products beyond payroll.
