Recruiter.com Acquires Feenyx to Expand AI-Powered Skills Assessment

Recruiting software is moving deeper into candidate evaluation as employers look for alternatives to résumé screening and unstructured interviews. Recruiter.com has completed its acquisition of Feenyx, an AI-powered hiring platform that combines skills assessments, interviews, candidate verification and fraud detection, giving Recruiter.com customers a new layer for evaluating what applicants can actually do.

A résumé can show where someone has worked. It cannot necessarily show how that person will perform once hired.

That distinction is becoming more important as employers adopt skills-based hiring and generative AI changes both how recruiters evaluate candidates and how candidates prepare for interviews.

Recruiter.com is addressing that shift through its acquisition of Feenyx, an AI-powered hiring technology company focused on candidate assessment and verification.

The acquisition, which has closed, brings Feenyx’s skills testing, asynchronous and live interviews, AI-assisted evaluation and candidate authenticity tools into Recruiter.com’s recruiting technology and services business. Feenyx will continue operating as Feenyx, a Recruiter.com Company, while its capabilities are integrated into Recruiter.com’s products.

The strategic logic is straightforward: Recruiter.com already provides access to recruiters and talent services; Feenyx adds technology designed to evaluate candidates after they enter the hiring funnel.

That potentially gives employers a more continuous workflow spanning candidate sourcing, assessment and hiring.

“AI is changing recruiting in a big way,” Recruiter.com CEO Jesse Tinsley said in announcing the transaction, arguing that the technology should help recruiters make better decisions rather than simply automate the human parts of hiring.

The acquisition comes as skills-based hiring gains momentum across HR organizations.

Workday reported in 2025 that 55% of organizations worldwide had begun transitioning toward a skills-based talent model, with another 23% planning to begin the transition within 12 months. The company’s research also found that only 54% of business leaders said they had a clear view of the skills already present in their workforce.

That creates an opening for assessment technology.

If employers want to hire based on capabilities rather than degrees, job titles or résumé keywords, they need reliable ways to measure those capabilities.

From Résumé Screening to Evidence-Based Hiring

Feenyx’s platform is designed around that problem.

Its technology combines skills assessments with asynchronous and live interviews, allowing hiring teams to collect multiple signals about a candidate rather than relying on a single application document or conversation.

The platform also includes identity and authenticity checks and technology intended to detect suspicious behavior, fraud and AI use during interviews.

That last category is becoming particularly relevant.

Generative AI has made it easier for candidates to prepare polished applications, generate responses to common interview questions and receive assistance during remote assessments. Employers therefore face a new version of an old hiring problem: determining whether the candidate is demonstrating their own capabilities.

Assessment providers are responding by moving toward simulations, adaptive testing, live evaluation and verification.

Feenyx says its platform has supported more than 600,000 hours of candidate evaluations and has been used to assess technical and professional skills while flagging suspicious behavior and potential AI use. The company has raised $25.3 million in funding, according to the acquisition announcement.

Those figures illustrate the scale of Feenyx’s existing assessment activity, but the acquisition gives the technology a significantly broader potential distribution channel.

Recruiter.com Targets the Full Hiring Workflow

For Recruiter.com, the transaction is less about adding another standalone assessment product than about expanding its position across the hiring lifecycle.

The company can now combine its recruiting network and talent services with technology designed to produce richer evidence about applicants.

That puts Recruiter.com into a competitive category that includes major enterprise HR platforms such as Workday, SAP SuccessFactors and Oracle, as well as specialist assessment and interview providers.

The difference is positioning.

Large HCM platforms increasingly embed skills intelligence directly into talent acquisition. Workday, for example, says AI can help recruiters identify skills from résumés and recommend relevant opportunities.

Specialized assessment platforms, meanwhile, focus more deeply on determining whether candidates possess particular competencies.

Recruiter.com’s combination of recruiting services and Feenyx’s evaluation technology sits between those models.

For employers, that could reduce the number of disconnected systems involved in hiring. Instead of sourcing candidates in one environment, assessing them in another and manually transferring the results to recruiters and hiring managers, the company is attempting to connect those stages.

But integration alone will not guarantee better hiring.

AI Assessment Creates New Governance Questions

The more consequential question is how employers use AI-generated assessment data.

Automated candidate evaluation can increase consistency and scale, but HR teams still need to understand what is being measured, how scores are generated and whether assessments disadvantage particular groups.

Gartner reported in 2025 that 48% of surveyed HR leaders said demand for new skills was changing faster than existing talent structures and processes could support.

That pressure can encourage companies to adopt automated assessment quickly.

The risk is building another opaque layer into the hiring process.

For enterprise HR teams considering AI assessment technology, practical safeguards should include clear competency definitions, human review of consequential decisions, validation of assessment outcomes and monitoring for disparate impact. Candidates should also understand when AI is involved in their evaluation.

Feenyx’s emphasis on authenticity and fraud detection addresses another emerging concern, but employers will still need policies governing how such signals influence hiring decisions.

The Bigger Shift Is Toward Demonstrated Skills

The Recruiter.com-Feenyx combination reflects a broader change in how companies define evidence of employability.

Skills-based hiring is moving attention away from what candidates claim on a résumé toward what they can demonstrate through assessments, simulations, interviews and work samples.

That shift could make recruiting more data-driven—but it also raises the standard for the technology behind those decisions.

For Recruiter.com, the acquisition creates an opportunity to make candidate evaluation a more integrated part of its recruiting platform.

For employers, the value will ultimately depend on whether those additional signals produce better hiring decisions without introducing new sources of bias, opacity or candidate friction.

As AI becomes part of both sides of the hiring equation, proving capability may become as important as describing it.

Market Landscape

The Recruiter.com-Feenyx deal arrives during a broader transition toward skills-based talent acquisition and AI-assisted recruiting.

Workday’s 2025 research found that 55% of organizations worldwide had already started shifting toward skills-based talent strategies, while 23% planned to begin within the following year. Gartner separately found that 48% of surveyed HR leaders believed demand for new skills was evolving faster than their existing talent structures could support.

The market is consequently moving beyond applicant tracking toward systems that can identify, assess and verify skills.

Recruiter.com and Feenyx face competition from several directions. Workday, Oracle and SAP are embedding skills intelligence into broader HCM suites, while specialist companies focus on technical testing, interview intelligence, identity verification and assessment.

The emerging differentiator is therefore not simply whether a platform uses AI. It is what evidence the AI produces and how that evidence improves a hiring decision.

For enterprise teams, the most useful platforms will likely be those that connect assessment results to job-specific competencies while maintaining human oversight and transparent evaluation processes.
