Advocate Health Centralizes Operations with Workday’s AI Platform

Workday, Inc. (NASDAQ: WDAY) has gone live with Advocate Health, the third-largest nonprofit healthcare system in the U.S., connecting its HR, financial, and supply chain operations on a single, AI-powered platform. The move marks a major milestone in Advocate Health’s post-merger digital transformation, simplifying employee workflows and improving patient outcomes.

“Workday provides the reliability, performance, and data quality we need as we continue to redefine health care for our patients and communities,” said Dr. Bobbie Byrne, CIO, Advocate Health.

The deployment covers Workday Human Capital Management (HCM), Financial Management, and Supply Chain Management (SCM) for Healthcare, implemented in partnership with PwC. The platform now unifies data from more than 60 hospitals and over 1,000 sites of care across six states, giving Advocate Health a single source of truth for operations.

Streamlining Work for 160,000 Employees

Workday HCM allows employees to manage routine tasks such as time-off requests, schedule approvals, and payroll checks directly from mobile devices, freeing staff to focus on patient care. On the financial side, Workday Financial Management delivers real-time financial insights, helping leaders close books faster and make smarter strategic decisions.

Meanwhile, Workday SCM for Healthcare, paired with AI-powered expense automation, optimizes inventory tracking, accelerates expense processing, and ensures essential supplies reach caregivers efficiently. Features like automatic receipt scanning reduce manual workloads and improve operational accuracy across Advocate Health’s sprawling network.

“People are at the heart of health care. Together with PwC, we’re proud to put the power of AI and people-first design to work—improving employee experience and the quality of care patients receive,” said Michael Hofherr, SVP and GM for Industry, Workday.

Driving Meaningful Outcomes with AI and Collaboration

The project highlights how AI-driven platforms can future-proof complex healthcare operations. According to Claudio Valera, Global Workday Alliance Leader, PwC, the deployment demonstrates that strategic digital transformation delivers immediate value for both employees and patients.

By centralizing HR, finance, and supply chain management on one intelligent platform, Advocate Health is poised to streamline workflows, reduce operational friction, and improve resource allocation across its vast network—illustrating how technology can enhance both workforce experience and patient care.
