Box Unveils AI-Powered Agentic Solutions to Transform Enterprise Workflows

Box, Inc. (NYSE: BOX), a leader in Intelligent Content Management (ICM), has introduced a new suite of agentic AI solutions designed to automate work, extract insights from unstructured content, and enable smarter decision-making across enterprises. The announcements were made at Box’s annual BoxWorks conference in San Francisco.

The rollout includes:

  • Box Extract: AI-powered data extraction from documents, images, presentations, spreadsheets, and scanned forms.

  • Box Automate: Agentic workflow automation enabling cross-team and cross-system orchestration.

  • Box Apps Enhancements: AI-assisted capabilities for no-code dashboards that embed agent-driven analysis and dynamic insights.

Box Extract: Turning Content Into Actionable Data

Box Extract addresses a common enterprise pain point: critical data trapped in unstructured formats. Using Box AI Standard and Enhanced Extract Agents, Box Extract allows teams to:

  • Extract structured data from PDFs, images, scanned forms, and more

  • Understand complex content, including tables, handwriting, and barcodes

  • Capture relationships between nested data points

  • Validate, clean, and format extracted data for enterprise workflows

  • Integrate seamlessly via the Box Extract API

Enterprises in legal, finance, HR, operations, and sales can leverage Box Extract to accelerate contract reviews, reconcile invoices, streamline onboarding, and optimize supply chain operations. IBM and Sage Hospitality Group are already seeing significant efficiency gains using Box Extract, turning previously inaccessible information into high-confidence, actionable insights.

Box Automate: Agentic Workflow Orchestration

Box Automate enables organizations to design and manage AI-native workflows visually, routing tasks dynamically between humans, AI agents, and systems. Users can:

  • Build no-code/low-code workflows for cross-team processes

  • Customize foundational agents like Extract, Compose, Search, and Q&A

  • Integrate Box-native tools such as Box Forms, Box Sign, and Box Doc Gen

  • Extend workflows via APIs to third-party applications

Box Automate can handle anything from invoice processing and contract management to client onboarding and field operations, combining AI speed, precision, and enterprise compliance.

Box Apps: AI-Powered Dashboards and Insights

Box Apps now incorporates agent-assisted analytics, allowing users to:

  • Explore content with natural language queries

  • Identify trends, anomalies, and recommended actions

  • Generate dynamic visualizations and team-specific dashboards

  • Embed apps directly into platforms like Salesforce

These enhancements turn static content repositories into intelligent business tools, accelerating decision-making and operational efficiency.

Flexibility Across AI Ecosystems

Box continues to give enterprises the choice of AI models from Anthropic, Amazon, Google, IBM, Meta, OpenAI, and xAI, all accessible via Box AI Studio and Box AI APIs. Third-party integrations include Microsoft 365 Copilot, Anthropic Claude, GitHub Copilot, IBM WatsonX Orchestrate, and Salesforce Agentforce, with more on the horizon.

Aaron Levie, Box CEO, framed these innovations as a major step toward agentic workflows, where AI agents work autonomously to drive business outcomes:
“This new generation of intelligent agents is expanding the boundaries of enterprise software, enabling organizations to automate previously impossible tasks and unlock massive new value.”
