UK-based online tutoring platform Edumentors has raised $2 million in seed funding to develop Edu AI, a fully interactive, human-like AI tutor aimed at transforming education for school students globally. The platform seeks to make high-quality, personalized tutoring accessible at scale, addressing both cost and geographic barriers.

Despite AI advancements, access to quality education remains limited, with experienced tutors often charging premium rates. Edumentors’ Edu AI aims to replicate one-on-one human tutoring through adaptive, interactive sessions. Unlike passive video lessons or animated avatars, Edu AI responds to student needs in real-time, using facial expressions and body language analysis to create authentic teaching experiences.

The $2M funding round, led by Abu Dhabi-based Magna Investments, was oversubscribed and includes angel investors from 10+ countries, comprising founders, CTOs of AI startups, and educational experts. Funds will accelerate Edu AI’s development and expand Edumentors’ human tutoring model while preparing for future market entry in the U.S.

The global online tutoring market is projected to reach $27 billion with 14.5% annual growth. Edumentors believes AI-powered tutoring will unlock an even larger market, reaching millions of families worldwide. The platform has already introduced three AI tools, including an exam-marking assistant, an AI tutor training module, and an AI avatar for parent engagement, with Edu AI set to redefine the sector.
