HiBob Launches US Payroll and Benefits to Take on Legacy Systems

Payroll isn’t exactly known for innovation. For decades, it’s been a back-office process employees rarely see—until something goes wrong. HiBob, the HR tech company behind its namesake platform “Bob,” is trying to change that narrative. The company just launched a native US Payroll and Benefits Administration solution, designed to fold payroll into the employee journey instead of hiding it in the background.

HiBob promises more than faster pay runs. Backed by Gusto’s Embedded Payroll technology, the new system integrates payroll, benefits, and HR into a single experience. The goal: clarity for employees, smoother collaboration between HR and finance, and analytics that actually help leadership make decisions.

What’s New

The US Payroll and Benefits solution debuts with several modern touches:

  • AI-Powered Payslip Intelligence – Employees can query deductions, taxes, or changes in plain English with an AI co-pilot.

  • Real-Time Analytics Payroll and benefits data feed instant dashboards for finance and HR leaders.

  • Seamless Collaboration – A shared source of truth cuts down on errors, delays, and manual rework.

  • Transparent Experience – From onboarding to benefits enrollment to payday, the interface is built to be intuitive and scalable.

“This is payroll reimagined,” said Ronni Zehavi, HiBob’s CEO and co-founder. “We’ve built a system for people, not just payments—giving employees confidence in their pay while helping organizations streamline HR and finance.”

Why It Matters

HiBob’s move lands at a time when payroll is undergoing a long-overdue modernization. Giants like ADP and UKG still dominate, but newer entrants like Rippling, Gusto, and Deel have raised expectations with slick interfaces and employee-first features. By embedding payroll directly into its HR platform, HiBob is signaling it wants to be a serious contender in the US SMB market.

The company is also betting big on transparency. Payroll has historically been one of the least visible processes in organizations, according to Sapient Insights Group’s Stacey Harris. HiBob’s AI-powered, employee-facing design could change that by reducing confusion and building trust—two things SMBs often struggle with as they scale.

Early Reactions

Magma Math, an early adopter, praised the unified approach. “Payroll and people analytics are unified across our global teams,” said Martin Lundström, VP and Head of Finance. “Implementation was smooth, and HiBob has proven to be a reliable, customer-focused partner.”

With over 3,000 customers already on its platform, HiBob’s payroll expansion positions it to compete head-on with both legacy providers and fast-moving upstarts. Whether SMBs will embrace a new payroll standard remains to be seen—but HiBob has clearly raised the bar.
