The HR Policy Association has officially rebranded as the CHRO Association (chro.org), signaling a strategic shift toward supporting chief human resource officers in shaping high-performing, future-ready workforces. The move reflects the evolving priorities of its roughly 400 members, including some of the world’s largest and most influential employers.
“HR policy advocacy remains vital to our members,” said Tim Bartl, CEO of the CHRO Association. “This rebrand reasserts us as the ‘voice of the CHRO’ while expanding our expertise in areas that are making CHROs transformational leaders in business performance today.”
Alongside the rebrand, the association unveiled a new Center on Workplace AI, designed to help CHROs apply artificial intelligence to workforce strategy. Mirroring the long-standing Center on Executive Compensation, this initiative offers members access to deep domain expertise, peer networks, and actionable insights on workforce policy and AI-driven talent management.
“The CHRO’s role is now critical in defining workforce strategies that leverage automation, digital tools, and AI to drive outsized business impact,” said Tim Richmond, board chair and retired EVP & CHRO at AbbVie. “We aim to serve senior HR leaders and their teams who are the stewards of the workforce delivering on their company’s business ambitions.”
The CHRO Association traces its roots to the 1960s Labor Policy Association, evolving over decades to address the growing influence of HR leaders in the executive suite. Today, the organization continues its mission to equip CHROs with the tools, insights, and networks needed to cultivate talent, culture, and organizational capabilities at scale.
Leadership remains steady, with Tim Bartl as CEO, Ani Huang in an expanded role as president of policy and practice, and Henry Eickelberg as chief experience officer. Collectively, the association’s member companies employ over 20 million people worldwide and represent a combined market capitalization exceeding $8 trillion, underscoring the significant influence of its CHRO members.
With the rebrand and the launch of the AI-focused center, the CHRO Association is positioning itself at the intersection of people, policy, and technology—helping top HR executives harness data, AI, and modern HR practices to drive measurable business outcomes.
