As Agentic Artificial Intelligence (AI) moves from concept to real-world deployment, organizations are realizing that adoption alone is not enough. According to a new white paper by NTUC LearningHub, while most business leaders (77%) and employees (74%) view Agentic AI as vital for competitiveness, the majority admit to being unfamiliar with the technology.
The 2025 report, Agentic AI for Workplace Resilience, surveyed 150 business leaders and 300 full-time professionals in Singapore to examine adoption, skills gaps, and workforce readiness. The findings paint a striking picture:
-
83% of employees and 48% of business leaders report being unfamiliar with Agentic AI.
-
70% of leaders and 83% of employees say their workforce is “not skilled” or “not very skilled” in Agentic AI systems.
-
Only 51% of leaders feel their organizations understand Agentic AI’s impact on day-to-day operations.
Despite the knowledge gap, adoption is already underway: 23% of companies are in exploratory stages, 34% in testing, and 18% in limited deployment.
Skills and Training Gaps
Both leaders and employees recognize the urgency of training:
-
73% of employees are willing to attend Agentic AI training, while 62% of leaders plan to enroll staff within two years.
-
Top training areas include technical skills (45%-50%), data handling (37%-40%), and AI literacy (38%-40%).
-
Certifications matter: 71% of employees consider them important, with favorites including Artificial Intelligence Fundamentals, Generative AI for Executives, and Certified CyberAI Professional.
The report also underscores the complementary role of human skills:
-
Employees highlight critical thinking (43%), continuous learning (42%), and AI literacy (38%).
-
Leaders emphasize change management and resilience (45%), alongside critical thinking (39%) and adaptability (39%).
The Human-AI Balance
Amos Tan, Assistant Chief Executive and Chief Core Skills Officer at NTUC LearningHub, stressed that technical knowledge alone won’t ensure success:
“Redesigning current jobs and developing human capabilities enable workers to integrate Agentic AI thoughtfully and successfully. By building this dual foundation of technological literacy and human strengths, organizations can unlock the full potential of Agentic AI and build a workforce ready to thrive in an AI-driven future.”
The report highlights the importance of upskilling, ethical use of AI, and workforce adaptability, signaling a major opportunity for organizations to combine AI adoption with structured learning and human-centric strategies.
