Payentry Taps Equifax’s The Work Number to Simplify Employment Verification

Getting a mortgage, an auto loan, or even certain government benefits often hinges on one thing: proof of employment and income. For HR teams, those verification requests are usually a paperwork headache. Payentry, a payroll and human capital management provider, wants to change that. The company announced a new integration with The Work Number® from Equifax, the long-standing industry standard for digital employment verification.

Instead of HR staff fielding requests and manually confirming details, employees of Payentry clients can now authorize Equifax to provide credentialed lenders, agencies, or other verifiers with the required information—quickly, securely, and without extra HR bottlenecks.

Beyond Payroll: A Value-Add for Providers

The move isn’t just for Payentry’s direct clients. Independent payroll providers who license Payentry’s SaaS platform can also extend The Work Number integration to their own employer customers. That’s a notable differentiator in a crowded payroll tech market: smaller payroll firms get access to the same verification muscle typically associated with national players.

It’s a strategic play, too. By automating income and employment verifications, Payentry helps reduce HR workload while boosting client satisfaction—a win for both businesses and the employees navigating critical life events. As CEO Geoffrey R. Duke put it: “Our clients trust us to simplify complex payroll and HR processes. By integrating with The Work Number, we’re helping employers reduce administrative burden while ensuring employees benefit from a quicker, more secure verification process.”

Why It Matters

Employment verification is one of those unglamorous but essential HR tasks. And while some payroll and HCM giants like ADP and Workday have built direct pipelines into verification networks, Payentry’s move highlights how mid-sized providers can level the playing field through partnerships.

For Equifax, the collaboration extends The Work Number’s already massive footprint—millions of employers nationwide rely on it. For Payentry, it signals a push to keep pace with an industry shifting toward automation, compliance-friendly integrations, and employee-first convenience.

Or, as Equifax Workforce Solutions VP Jeff Wagner put it: “Our automated digital verifications help employers and employees save time and paperwork, to help keep life moving forward often at times when it matters most.”
