A new poll from Employment Hero, surveying over 1,000 working Canadians, reveals widespread payroll errors and delays, highlighting a serious financial vulnerability for employees. According to the survey, 51% of Canadians would struggle to pay bills if their paycheque were delayed, while 38% have experienced inaccuracies or delays in the past five years—affecting roughly 7.8 million workers.

Payroll mistakes aren’t just inconvenient—they erode employee trust. The survey shows that 74% of Canadians would feel negatively toward their employer if their paycheque was late. Meanwhile, only 55% of employees would report overpayments, suggesting a gap in engagement and confidence with payroll processes.
