Seward & Kissel LLP is doubling down on employment law. The New York-based firm announced that Lindsay Ditlow, a veteran labor and employment attorney, has joined as co-head of its Employment Practice.
Ditlow, who arrives from McDermott Will & Schulte, brings heavyweight experience spanning litigation, regulatory compliance, and advisory work tied to corporate transactions such as mergers and acquisitions. She’s represented clients across the alphabet soup of workplace law—Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FCRA, FLSA, and more—making her a formidable addition to a practice that has been scaling rapidly over the past two years.
A Strategic Expansion
“Lindsay is a highly regarded practitioner whose strategic insight and breadth of experience will be a tremendous asset to our team,” said managing partner James Cofer. “Her arrival reflects our continued investment in expanding Seward & Kissel’s Employment Practice.”
She’ll co-lead the group alongside David Baron, who joined the firm in 2023. Baron called the hire “a pivotal moment,” noting that Ditlow’s arrival validates the momentum the practice has built in addressing the increasingly complex needs of corporate clients.
For her part, Ditlow framed the move as an opportunity to scale. “The Firm’s commitment to innovation and growing the practice makes this a compelling opportunity,” she said. “I look forward to partnering with David Baron to continue building what is already a responsive, forward-thinking team.”
The Bigger Picture
Seward & Kissel has been in expansion mode. Ditlow’s hire comes amid a string of lateral additions across the firm, including partners in transportation finance, litigation, investment management, corporate, and trusts & estates. The firm is clearly looking to build out a deeper bench of specialized practices at a time when employment law itself is growing more complex.
With regulatory scrutiny intensifying around workplace compliance, wage and hour disputes, and evolving risks like AI bias in hiring, firms with robust employment practices are well-positioned to capture demand. By bringing in a seasoned litigator and advisor like Ditlow, Seward & Kissel signals it wants to be part of that conversation.
Ditlow holds a J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law and a B.A. from Tulane University Freeman School of Business.
