Selerix Launches ACA Express for Self-Service Compliance

Selerix has launched ACA Express, a self-service platform designed to help Applicable Large Employers (ALEs) prepare and submit Affordable Care Act (ACA) filings without relying on a fully managed compliance service. The solution combines guided workflows, AI-assisted data checks, filing tools, and access to live compliance specialists. The launch targets employers with relatively straightforward reporting requirements that want greater control over ACA administration while retaining access to expert support when issues arise.

Selerix Brings AI-Assisted Self-Service to ACA Reporting

Affordable Care Act reporting remains a recurring administrative responsibility for large U.S. employers. Organizations subject to employer shared responsibility provisions must track employee coverage information, determine reporting obligations, and submit the required forms to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Errors or incomplete records can create compliance exposure and additional work for HR, benefits, payroll, and finance teams.

Selerix’s ACA Express is designed to make that process more accessible to employers that do not need a fully managed filing service but still want structured guidance. The platform gives employers a self-service route to prepare and file ACA information, with built-in validation and access to specialists for more complicated situations.

The launch reflects a broader HR technology trend: benefits administration providers are using automation and AI assistance to shift routine compliance work toward guided digital workflows rather than relying exclusively on specialist-led services.

Guided Workflows and AI-Based Data Checks

ACA Express organizes the filing process into a sequence of steps, beginning with a free assessment intended to help employers determine their reporting requirements and whether self-service is appropriate.

Employers can upload payroll and related information, with AI-powered tools designed to identify missing or incomplete data. Built-in validation checks flag inconsistencies and provide prompts explaining what needs attention before filing.

The platform also supports preparation and distribution of Form 1095-C, electronic submission of required information to the IRS, and recordkeeping. These functions address several stages of ACA reporting that can otherwise involve manual data preparation, reconciliation, and review across multiple systems.

A central component is Compliance Assist, Selerix’s AI-based support feature. It answers questions in plain language, explains terminology and IRS codes, and suggests next steps as users work through the process.

The company is also providing access to live ACA experts within the platform. Selerix says consultants can receive relevant case context, reducing the need for employers to repeat information when escalating a question. This combination of automated guidance and human support is intended to help users handle routine tasks independently while providing an escalation path for more complex compliance issues.

A Self-Service Alternative to Managed Compliance

The product is positioned as an additional option within Selerix’s broader ACA services portfolio, rather than a replacement for its full-service offering.

Employers with more complicated reporting requirements can use Selerix’s Total ACA service, which combines its technology with dedicated compliance specialists. ACA Express is aimed at organizations that have the internal capacity to manage filing but need help organizing data, understanding requirements, and checking submissions.

The distinction matters because ACA reporting complexity varies by employer. Workforce size, employee status, coverage offers, payroll data quality, and organizational structure can all affect the work required to prepare accurate filings. A self-service product may reduce the need for ongoing external assistance in straightforward cases, but it does not remove the employer’s responsibility to ensure its reporting is complete and accurate.

Selerix says ACA Express can work with data from multiple payroll providers and integrate into existing benefits, HR, and payroll environments. Employers therefore do not need to replace their current systems to use the service. The company has not named the supported payroll providers in the announcement.

AI Support Does Not Replace Compliance Accountability

The use of AI to explain IRS codes and identify incomplete information could make ACA reporting easier for HR and benefits administrators who do not work with tax and compliance rules every day. It may also help reduce avoidable back-and-forth between employers, payroll teams, and external specialists.

But validation is not the same as a legal or regulatory determination. AI-generated explanations and automated checks need to be evaluated against current IRS instructions and the employer’s actual circumstances. Employers remain responsible for reviewing employee and coverage records, resolving exceptions, and meeting applicable filing requirements.

Selerix says ACA Express is built on more than a decade of experience in ACA compliance services. Across its broader ACA business, the company reports that its solutions support 19 million-plus employees, have been used by 40,000 companies for filing, and have helped mitigate more than $650 million in Employer Shared Responsibility Payments. These are company-reported figures and are not independently verified performance measures for the new self-service product.

HR Technology Moves Toward Guided Compliance

ACA Express enters a market where benefits administration platforms increasingly combine software, automation, and specialist services. Employers are looking for ways to simplify recurring compliance work while limiting administrative overhead and avoiding errors that can affect employee benefits and regulatory reporting.

Selerix’s approach is to offer different service levels through a shared technology environment: self-service for employers comfortable managing routine filings and full-service support for organizations with more demanding requirements.

The product’s longer-term value will depend on how accurately its AI tools identify data problems, how well it handles different payroll formats, and whether employers can complete filings with less manual effort. Selerix has not disclosed independent accuracy benchmarks, customer adoption figures, or quantified time savings for ACA Express.

For HR teams, the announcement signals another move toward AI-assisted compliance administration. The technology may make routine reporting more manageable, but the strongest test will be whether it can combine usability with the accuracy, transparency, and expert escalation that regulatory work requires.

Market Landscape

ACA compliance technology sits at the intersection of benefits administration, payroll integration, HR data management, and regulatory reporting. Employers must coordinate employee status, hours, coverage offers, and health plan information across systems to produce accurate annual filings.

The IRS generally considers employers with an average of at least 50 full-time employees, including full-time-equivalent employees, during the preceding calendar year to be Applicable Large Employers. ALEs have information-reporting responsibilities covering health coverage offered to full-time employees.

The reporting process involves Form 1095-C for employee-level coverage information and Form 1094-C as the transmittal to the IRS. Employers must also provide applicable statements to employees. The IRS requires electronic filing when an employer files 10 or more information returns, making reliable digital filing infrastructure increasingly important.

Selerix competes in a broader benefits administration market that includes platforms such as Businessolver, Alight, and UKG. Their broader offerings span benefits, workforce management, and employee services; this does not mean every provider offers an identical ACA self-service product.

The differentiator for ACA Express is its combination of guided self-service, AI-assisted validation, and access to human compliance specialists. Its commercial opportunity will depend on whether employers can use the platform to reduce manual preparation and external service costs without compromising filing accuracy.
