Convera and Singapore-based HR technology provider JustLogin have partnered to bring cross-border payroll and business payments into HR workflows, allowing customers to initiate employee and payroll payments in up to 16 currencies from within JustLogin. The integration connects HR software with regulated payment infrastructure as companies across Southeast Asia manage increasingly distributed workforces.
Payroll is becoming a more complicated part of managing a regional workforce. For companies operating across Southeast Asia, paying employees can involve multiple currencies, payment networks, regulatory requirements and internal finance processes. Convera and JustLogin are attempting to reduce that complexity by embedding cross-border payments directly into an HR platform.
The companies announced a partnership on September 21, 2026, that allows JustLogin customers to initiate payroll and employee-related payments in up to 16 currencies without leaving the JustLogin environment. Convera handles the underlying cross-border payment execution.
The integration reflects a broader change in HR technology: payroll is increasingly being connected to other financial and employee-facing workflows rather than operating as an isolated back-office process.
Under the new arrangement, payment activity begins inside JustLogin, with relevant transaction information securely passed to Convera when a payment is initiated. Payment status and confirmations are then returned to the JustLogin dashboard. Convera handles customer onboarding and know-your-customer checks as the payment processor, with the company stating that it operates under the oversight of more than 60 regulators globally.
For HR and finance teams, the appeal is less about adding another payroll feature than reducing the number of systems involved in paying an international workforce. A company expanding from Singapore into Malaysia, the Philippines or other regional markets may otherwise need to coordinate payroll data, payment providers, foreign-exchange processes and compliance requirements separately.
The partnership also connects HR technology with the expanding embedded finance model. In embedded finance, financial capabilities are integrated directly into software that businesses already use, rather than requiring users to move between separate financial applications.
That model is increasingly relevant to HR platforms. Payroll is inherently financial, but the information surrounding it sits within HR systems: employee identity, employment status, salary information, deductions, work location and payment schedules. Bringing payment execution closer to that data can reduce handoffs between HR and finance teams, although it also places greater importance on security, compliance and integration controls.
The employee-experience implications are also significant. Payroll is one of the most visible interactions employees have with their employer, and payment delays or errors can quickly affect trust. For multinational employers, the challenge becomes more complex when employees are paid across different currencies and local payment infrastructures.
The integration supports selected faster-payment rails in the region, including Singapore’s FAST, Malaysia’s DuitNow and the Philippines’ InstaPay, according to the companies.
The companies say the partnership is intended to help businesses manage regional workforces while improving payment visibility. Those benefits are company claims rather than independently measured outcomes, but the underlying technology direction is consistent with broader HR software trends.
Gartner’s 2026 HR Technology Employee Experience research identifies employee experience as a continuing focus for HR leaders, with HR technology and AI increasingly used to support employee-facing processes. Gartner also describes HR technology as a market spanning payroll administration, workforce management, employee experience and analytics, with AI becoming increasingly embedded across HCM suites.
JustLogin’s integration with Convera adds payments to that connected HR technology model.
The partnership comes as businesses across Southeast Asia increasingly operate regional workforces. The companies cite an estimate placing the Southeast Asian B2B payments market at approximately $44.5 billion in 2024, with the market projected to exceed $105 billion by 2033. Those figures come from IMARC and are cited by Convera; they should be viewed as a market estimate rather than an independently verified transaction-volume measurement.
For HR teams, integrating payments into an existing HR platform could make international payroll easier to administer. Finance teams may gain a more direct view of payment status, while employees could benefit from faster salary disbursement where supported payment rails are available.
However, embedded payroll also raises the stakes for HR technology providers. Once payment execution becomes part of an HR workflow, platform reliability, data security, regulatory compliance and transaction visibility become operational requirements rather than optional integrations.
The development also reflects the increasingly blurred boundary between HR technology and financial technology. Payroll platforms are no longer limited to calculating wages and producing payslips. They are becoming interfaces through which organizations manage employee financial interactions.
That trend is particularly relevant to vendors competing in HR SaaS. Platforms from large enterprise providers such as Microsoft, Oracle, SAP and Workday increasingly connect HR data with broader business workflows, while specialist providers can differentiate through localized capabilities and integrations.
For Southeast Asian employers, localization remains important. Each market has its own payment infrastructure, currency considerations and regulatory environment. A regional payroll experience therefore requires more than a single global payment button; it needs connectivity to the payment rails and compliance processes used in individual countries.
The Convera-JustLogin partnership illustrates how that architecture is evolving. Instead of treating payroll and cross-border payments as separate systems, the companies are connecting them through an HR workflow.
The larger question for HR technology providers is whether embedded payments will become a standard part of global payroll platforms. As distributed workforces become more common, the ability to manage employees, payroll data and payments through connected systems could become an increasingly important part of the international HR technology stack.
Market Landscape
The convergence of HR SaaS, payroll technology and embedded finance is creating a new category of connected workforce infrastructure. Traditional payroll systems calculate and administer employee compensation, while payment platforms handle transaction execution. Integrations such as Convera and JustLogin’s connect those functions.
Gartner’s HR technology research shows that payroll, workforce management, employee experience and analytics are already core components of modern HCM environments. Meanwhile, HR leaders are increasingly evaluating technology based on how effectively it connects systems and improves employee-facing experiences.
The Southeast Asian market adds another layer of complexity because employers must work across different currencies, payment rails and regulatory frameworks. Embedded payment infrastructure can potentially reduce operational handoffs, but providers must maintain strong controls around identity, data and compliance.
