Evergreen’s Pine Services Group has acquired Datel, one of the United Kingdom’s largest and longest-established Sage business partners, in a move aimed at strengthening enterprise resource planning (ERP) services and cloud technology capabilities. The acquisition combines two long-standing Sage ecosystem partners while positioning Datel for continued investment in managed services, cloud infrastructure, and digital transformation solutions.

The market for enterprise resource planning (ERP) services continues to consolidate as investors seek established technology service providers with deep expertise in cloud applications and enterprise software. Reflecting that trend, Evergreen’s Pine Services Group has completed the acquisition of Datel, a UK-based Sage consultancy that has supported mid-market and enterprise customers for more than four decades.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Datel has built its reputation as one of the UK’s largest Sage partners, delivering consultancy, ERP implementation, application support, software development, systems integration, and managed cloud services. Its customer base spans manufacturing, distribution, financial services, insurance, software, professional services, and private equity-backed organizations.

The acquisition also marks a leadership transition, with founder and chairman Alan Simpson stepping down after more than 40 years leading the business. Stuart Morland will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer as Datel enters its next phase of growth.

Building on the Sage ecosystem

Enterprise organizations increasingly rely on ERP platforms to unify finance, operations, supply chain management, human resources, and customer data. Ramsey Sahyoun, Head of M&A at Evergreen, said preserving Datel’s culture and operational independence was a key factor during acquisition discussions with founder Alan Simpson.

According to Sahyoun, Evergreen’s commitment to permanently owning portfolio companies rather than preparing them for future resale aligned closely with Datel’s succession planning objectives.

That approach reflects a growing trend among founder-led technology businesses seeking investment partners that prioritize operational continuity over immediate restructuring.

Leadership transition supports future growth

The transaction coincides with a planned executive succession at Datel.

As Stuart Morland takes over as CEO, the company says it will continue operating under its existing brand while receiving additional investment in people, technology, service delivery, and strategic growth initiatives.

Morland said the partnership would allow Datel to expand without changing the company’s core identity or customer-first approach.

The continuity may prove particularly important for enterprise ERP customers, many of whom maintain long-term relationships with implementation partners responsible for mission-critical financial and operational systems.
